ABSOLUTELY AND UTTERLY RIDICULOUS!!!

Yes, indeed, Absolutely and Utterly Ridiculous--What you ask?--well, it's FACEBOOK of course!

Now, in all honesty it wasn't always that way, there was a time, not too long ago that it was actually what it was set up to be. A social networking service that lets you connect with friends, co-workers, and others who share similar interests with you or have common backgrounds, or to stay in touch after finishing school. These things are still the same but there have been so many new features added to it and changes that it has become "Absolutely and Utterly Ridiculous".

"Friend requests, invitations to join a group, invitations to follow a cause, invitations to events, tagging, requests to be a fan, invitations to follow blogs, sending gifts like hugs, hearts, flowers, and more and asking for a gift back, requests for you to take a short quiz to learn your IQ or what celebrity you are most like, and etc."

I check my email every day and "lo and behold" there are at least 6 to 8 emails from people on facebook. OMG--what's it all about anyway???

"I fan you and you fan me--I send you a hug and you send me flowers--I tag you and you tag me--I join a cause and ask you to join too--you took a quiz and now you invite me to take it--you are having an event and you want me to attend"--It's almost like a 'shark feeding frenzy'--especially when you have 100 friends or more--
Why did you join facebook in the first place? Most of us would answer , "to promote my on-line shop and stuff--HA, HA, HA, well just about all your friends, followers, and fans, are doing the same thing--so what do you really accomplish other than going around and around in circles?

Take a couple of moments to think about it--isn't it Absolutely and Utterly Ridiculous?
Okay, okay, granted not all of facebook is like this--but, so much valuable time is spent on friending, fanning, tagging, inviting, etc--is it really worth it?

Well, what do you think???
Btw, here is a pretty good article to read about facebook:
Well, I finished talking for now--ttyl

  6. I feel that a lot of it is ridiculous too. Don't my friends have better things to say to me than sending me a quiz or worse yet a beer. I had to stop drinking and most know it so why I ask do they do this to me daily.
I never respond the the silly stuff but if someone makes a comment that they are doing something I am always happy to respond. You are so right about the silly stuff that is going on there. I do love it though to keep up with old friends and friends that live far away. FB is good for that.

  7. I can understand your frustrations. I enjoy facebook for so many reasons. I promote myself but yet at the same time I talk to family, friends and so on. It gets crazy at times and I often wonder if I am coming or going. I log onto facebook each day and I bet there are at least 10-20 hugs, smiles, gifts, fan me, and so on. I will fan though because sometimes I like to see what other artists are upto but the other stuff not as much.
